What a service covers
Springs and cables
We check spring tension and balance and look for fraying or kinks in the lift cables. A balanced door is easier on the motor and on you.
Rollers, hinges and tracks
Worn rollers and dry hinges cause most of the noise a garage door makes. We check the tracks are secure and in line and the rollers run freely.
Lubrication
Moving parts are cleaned and lubricated with the right product for each one. Over-greasing tracks attracts grit, so we keep it where it belongs.
Seals and weatherstrips
Bottom, side and top seals perish over time, letting in draughts, leaves and water. We check them and advise if they need replacing.
Motor and controls
On electric doors we check the motor, drive, limits and force settings, test the remotes and wall button, and make sure the door stops and reverses correctly.
Safety checks
We test the safety sensors, safety edges and manual release so the door can be opened in a power cut and stops if anything is in its way.

Why servicing is worth booking
Most garage door breakdowns build up slowly. A spring loses tension, a roller wears flat, a cable starts to fray or a sensor drifts out of line. None of that stops the door on its own at first, but together they make the motor work harder until something gives.
A service finds those problems while they are small. It also means the safety features are checked by someone who knows what to look for, which matters most on heavy sectional and roller doors and on doors used by children.
Domestic and commercial servicing
For homes, we service roller, sectional, up-and-over and side-hinged garage doors, manual or electric, whoever installed them.
For businesses, we service commercial roller shutters, sectional bay doors and other commercial doors, and can set up planned maintenance. If a door has already failed, our commercial door repairs page covers emergency call-outs.
Servicing, maintenance and repairs
Between services there are simple checks you can do yourself — our garage door maintenance checklist sets them out, and the garage door servicing guide explains what a professional service involves in more detail.
If the door has already stopped working, is noisy, or is hanging unevenly, it needs a repair rather than a service. See garage door repair, or call us on 02892 095 531.
Garage door servicing questions
- How often should a garage door be serviced?
- For a typical home garage door used a few times a day, once a year is a sensible routine. Doors used very heavily, electric doors on busy households and commercial shutters benefit from more frequent servicing, based on how many times they open and close.
- What does a garage door service include?
- A service covers the springs, cables, rollers, hinges and tracks, lubrication of moving parts, the seals, and on electric doors the motor, limits, force settings, safety sensors and manual release. We adjust what needs adjusting and tell you about anything that is wearing out.
- Do you service commercial shutters?
- Yes. We service commercial roller shutters and other commercial doors, and we run planned maintenance, including fire shutter testing, for single units and across multiple sites.
