Garage door remote replacement and spare parts

Lost a garage door remote, broken a handset or need one for another driver? We supply replacement remotes and pair them to your door, fit keypads and receivers, and replace worn spare parts such as springs, cables, seals and locks — all fitted by an engineer across Northern Ireland.

What we supply and fit

Replacement handsets

A like-for-like or compatible remote, coded to your receiver on site. We test it from the car before we go.

Extra remotes

Additional handsets for family members or tenants, added to the receiver so each one works independently.

Keypads

A wall-mounted keypad lets you open the door with a code — useful for children, deliveries or when you are out on foot.

Receivers

If an older receiver no longer accepts new handsets or has failed, a new receiver lets the door work with current remotes.

Springs and cables

Worn or broken springs and frayed lift cables are replaced and the door rebalanced. These are under tension, so they are always fitted by an engineer.

Seals, locks and handles

Perished bottom and side seals, seized locks and broken handles are replaced to keep the door weathertight and secure.

Getting the right remote

Garage door remotes are not universal. Two handsets can look identical but use different frequencies or coding systems, which is why a cheap lookalike often will not pair. The surest way to get a working remote is to identify the operator first, then supply a handset that is made for it or confirmed as compatible.

When we fit a new remote, we also remove lost or stolen handsets from the receiver's memory, so they can no longer open your garage.

Remote stopped working?

Before replacing a remote, check the battery and try the wall button. If the door works from the button but not the remote, the handset or its pairing is likely to be the issue. Our guide to a garage door remote not working walks through the simple checks.

If neither the remote nor the button works, the fault is probably in the motor, its power supply or the control board. That is a repair job — see electric garage door repair.

Spare parts, fitted properly

We supply spare parts as part of a visit, fitted and tested on your door, rather than sending parts out. That way the part is right for the door, springs are set to the correct tension and the whole door is checked while we are there.

Our guide to garage door parts and hardware explains what each component does. If you would rather have a remote-controlled door from scratch, see electric garage doors and automation.

Remote and spare parts questions

Can you supply a replacement remote for my garage door?
Yes. We supply replacement handsets for the garage door operators commonly fitted in Northern Ireland and pair them to your receiver on site, so the new remote works before we leave. If your system is too old for new handsets, we can fit a new receiver that works with modern remotes.
How do I know which remote my door uses?
Look for a make and model on the back of the handset, inside the battery cover, or on a label on the motor unit. A photo of the old remote and the motor helps us identify it. Remotes that look alike can use different frequencies and coding, so a matching shape does not guarantee it will work.
Can you add extra remotes or a keypad?
Yes. We can add extra handsets for other drivers in the household and fit a wall-mounted keypad, so the door can be opened with a code. We can also remove lost handsets from the receiver's memory so they no longer open the door.
